What personality type am I? Why Skillido gives you five dimensions
At Skillido you get a profile instead of a type: five dimensions, each high, middle or low. A type splits every scale at the halfway point, while most people score close to that halfway point on most scales.
How a type is made
A type test measures a few traits, draws a line through the middle of each one and gives you one letter per trait: left or right of the line. Four traits with two sides each make sixteen types. The best-known version is the Myers-Briggs typology.
That works well for someone who sits far from the line. A score just left of the middle gets the same letter as a score far to the left, and a different letter from a score just to the right. Two people who answered almost the same can end up with different types, and two people who are far apart can share one.
What you get here
We leave the line out. For each dimension you see a bar that shows how often you chose that side in the test, with a word next to it: high, middle or low. Middle is an outcome in its own right. It means you chose that dimension about as often as you passed it over, and that happens a lot.
A bar also shows how far from the middle you are, and a letter leaves that out. Two people can both come out high on extraversion, one just over the line and one near the end of the bar. On the result page you see that difference at a glance. A type would give them the same letter and the same description.
The five dimensions are those of the Big Five model: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness. How the test measures them is on the page about the Big Five test.
Why we skip the box
A type is easy to remember and easy to share, and that is the risk. It feels like a fixed label, while the result of any questionnaire is a snapshot of one moment. A profile with bars shows where you clearly lean to one side and where you don't. That is less catchy, and it fits better with what a test like this can tell you.
The statements in our test come from the International Personality Item Pool, a public domain collection that researchers use and anyone may reuse. Each of the five dimensions shows up in the same number of choices, so none of them gets more weight than the others before you have picked a single statement.
