How Skillido works

Every test works the same way. You play it for free, you see your result right away, and if you want the full picture you buy your report once.

One model for every test

  1. Play the free test. A few short rounds. No account, no email address, and you can do it without buying anything.
  2. See your result right away. Your total score and what stands out. What that score does not mean is right there too.
  3. Buy your full report if you want more. One payment of €9.95, no subscription, and the report stays yours.

What each test measures, and how the score works

The form is the same, the content is not. Below is per test what you play and how the number comes about.

Brain Check

Five games of 45 seconds each, one per area. With the short instructions in between you are done in about five minutes.

  • Memory Grid (Memory): Some squares light up. Then tap them in the same order. Get it right and one more square is added.
  • Quick Tap (Reaction speed): Tap the green dot with a check mark as fast as you can. Leave the blue squares with a cross alone.
  • Pattern Sequence (Logic): You see a row of shapes that follows a pattern. Choose the shape that comes next. Get as many right as you can.
  • Spot the Difference (Attention): You see two rows of five shapes. They match except in one place. Tap that place. Find as many as you can.
  • Math Sprint (Mental math): Solve the sums. Each right answer makes the next one a little harder. Get as many right as you can.

Each game gives a raw outcome, and those cannot be compared with each other: squares, milliseconds, correct sums. We convert them to the same scale from 0 to 100 and take the average. That 50 is our own calibration, set from what each game allows, and not a measured distribution of players. Once enough people have played, a percentile per game appears in the report, next to your age group where that group is large enough.

Personality Check

Forty pairs of statements, taken from the public-domain IPIP item pool. In each pair you pick the one that fits you better. About three minutes.

With every choice one dimension gets a point and the other does not. Your profile shows five dimensions: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness. High means you chose that dimension more often than your other dimensions. It is a ratio within your own choices, so there is no good or bad profile, and the five bars always average out around the middle.

What we don't promise

A result says something about how you did this test on this day. Nothing more. It is not an intelligence test, not a medical assessment and not a prediction about your future. Someone who plays on a busy day or sees the games for the first time scores lower than someone who starts rested and practiced.

That is why nothing on this site says that Skillido gives you a better memory or a different personality. What you get is a test that is hard enough to hold your attention, a result that explains itself, and a report that shows what the free result keeps covered.

Your data

The test stores your results anonymously, without a name or an email address. We ask for your email address only when you buy a report, and then we use it to send you the link. What exactly we keep and for how long is in our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

What is my score compared with?
On the Brain Check, first with a fixed scale we set per game, on which 50 is an average result; once enough people have played, you also see higher than what percentage of players in your age group you came out, or of all players if that group is still small. On the Personality Check there is no better or worse: a dimension is high when you chose it more often than your other dimensions, and the percentile says how often other players chose it. Under fifty players we leave the comparison out, because a percentile on a handful of people is a made-up number.
Can I take a test more than once?
Yes, and your score will usually be higher the second time. That is because you know the test, not because anything about you changed in a week. The paid reports put your earlier tests side by side, but read a higher second score mostly as: this is how well I know the test now.
Is this a medical or psychological test?
No. Our results are scores on a game or a questionnaire. If you are worried about your memory or concentration, talk to your doctor.
What happens to my data?
The free test stores your results anonymously, without a name or an email address. We ask for your email address only when you buy a report, and then we use it to send you the link.
Where can I buy a report?
In Ireland, Malta and the Netherlands for now, in euros, by credit card, PayPal or iDEAL. Elsewhere you can leave your email address and we tell you when that changes.
